We're Having a Baby!

I’ve decided (with the help a few friends, Arica) that I’m starting a blog, a diary if you will, about our pregnancy. I want to keep track of everything, the good, the bad and the ugly, so this seemed perfect, PLUS it’s a way our family and friends can stay up-to-date and involved every step of the way.

DISCLAIMER: I want to apologize up front, something tells me this could get graphic at times and will probably be full of typos! Enjoy!

As most of you know, Jason and I are about to start a new adventure, WE’RE HAVING A BABY! And, as most of you know, this was a BIG surprise! But, for those of you that don’t know... the story goes:

It was a week after Thanksgiving and Jason was really sick (I think he got it from his sister when we were in Wichita) and I just knew I was going to get it x10! He gets a cough and I’m out for an entire week and feel like death would be a blessing. I just knew it was coming and it was going to be awful. Fast forward a week (the week “aunt flow” was coming to visit) I started to feel like I was getting ready to get sick, you know, tired and achy all over, PLUS I was having cramps to boot! YUCK!

It was Tuesday and nothing happened, Wednesday rolls around and still nothing. I decided to stop off at Target and get a few things, while I was there I thought I’d get a test (I’m NEVER late) just to assure myself that everything was fine, I hadn’t even thought about the alternative (like truly thought about it). When I got home, I made dinner, watched TV and talked to Jason about random things, that’s right, I didn’t take the test right away (clearly I wasn’t worried at all). So its about 9:30 and I tell Jason that I’m going to take and shower and “go to the bathroom” (you know what I’m talking about) not that I was, I just didn’t want him walking in and make a BIG deal about buying a test. It was the only way I could ensure that he wouldn’t come in. So I take the test, put it in the cabinet and take my shower (I didn’t even wait for the results).

I got out of the shower and grabbed the test, by the way I’m still in the towel. I looked down and there it was “PREGNANT”. There was no “maybe there’s two lines”, you see I bought the digital test and there was no “NOT” in front of that “PREGNANT”. I started to panic and I opened the door and looked at Jason in the living room (he was playing Play Station). He immediately said, “what’s wrong, are you okay?” (he now tells me I was white as a ghost). I went and sat on the couch and told him he needed to go into the bathroom. He asked why and I just said, “Just go in there”. He asked, “What did I do?”. (looking back that comment is pretty funny, what a true man). At this point my heart is beating so fast I think it might pop out of my chest, he yells, “what’s this” and I yell, “I don’t know”. How romantic, right! (I’m trying very hard not to laugh out loud about this as I’m typing it)

He comes into the living picks me up, hugs me and asked what’s wrong again (by the way, still in a towel) I say, “I just don’t want you to be mad.”

Of course he wasn’t mad, he told me I had to take another one, about an hour later, after multiple cups of water and Jason yelling at me to hurry up, I was able to take the second test AND sure enough, it practically screamed at me, it didn’t take the full 3 minutes to say “PREGNANT”.

So now what?!?
