Last Friday, June 25, 2010 she took her first step!!!! That’s right, she’ll soon be walking. My mom (Grandma Brenda) and Rita (Nana) were lucky enough to see this AMAZING milestone. My mom and dad brought her to me on Friday night since she stayed with Nana on Thursday night and spent the day with her my parents offered to bring her home so that they could see her, plus I needed to get home right after work to start pulling more weeds for the sod that was coming the next day (yes, we finally have a yard – that is if we don’t kill it – this heat SUCKS). When they pulled up my mom immediately told me that she had taken a step right in front of her and Rita!!!!

I was so excited we tried to get her to do it again and tried to videotape it, we warmed her up by having her push her little buggy around, finally we tried. My mom was holding her up – helping her get her balance and then let go, she stood there for a minute and then she took a step towards me and then another small one before falling forward!!!! SO COOL!!!! My dad was videotaping and got most of it, I’ll try and post if someone can tell me how…

HERE WE GO...

OK, here’s the thing – I’ve been thinking about this for a LONG time now and I’m finally going to try and get my stuff together. The past year has FLOWN by and I’ve blinked and my baby is almost a year old and I’ve done NOTHING with this blog. I wanted to use it as a sort of “memory book” to track things that happen and that just hasn’t happened. I work full time and when I come home I spent time with Jaycie, so now I’m feeling TONS of regret that I haven’t taken the time to write things down, so here goes, THE PLAN:

I’m going to start writing once a week at least – just updates on our family, especially for our good friends in KC – I’m sure they’ll be proud. On a side note – I’ve starting writing in Jaycie’s baby book – FINALLY – I’ve been putting it off because I’m such a control freak and I knew I would get so frustrated with my handwriting and the way it looks, I’m getting over it and wouldn’t you know the pen smeared EVERYWHERE!!! I guess I had that coming, oh well, I just need to let it go and get my stuff together!!!

Tonight I’m going home to start coping photos from the past year onto my computer and onto DVDs so I can print them for my albums, maybe write a few pages in Jaycie’s baby book and hopefully get this blog up and running AGAIN!!!

Wish me luck – keep you posted!!!

NICE!

As you can see I was trying to make some updates FINALLY and I totally just deleted stuff!!! I was 39 weeks pregnant and lets just say READY TO GET THE SHOW ON THE ROAD!!! After going to the hospital on the 9th for contractions (which I was sent home) I was sure I was going to be pregnant FOREVER!!!

August 9th update: I woke up at 6:30am having contractions, Jason was in bed and I woke him up to tell him that it had started, it was a TERRIBLE time for him with his job so he started talking to my belly, telling our baby girl to "SLOW DOWN". All I was thinking was you better shut your mouth, I'm ready for this to be OVER!!! So we loaded up the car around 9am and drove to the hospital only to be told that we had to go back home, it wasn't time. They watched me for an hour and I didn't change, so YIPPIE!!! I was still pregnant!!!

Flash forward back to the 14th - my birthday. It was Friday and I was at home (my parents house) hanging out watching T.V. when my friend Amy called me on the phone. I was having contractions all week, but they would come and go. This morning was no different. While I was talking to her... a HUGE one hit!!! I got down on my knees and all I could hear was Amy yelling "BREATH, JUST BREATH" - really, breath - that was the last thing on my mind. I was so excited!!! I wanted to share my birthday with my beautiful baby girl... let's face it, I'm no longer going to have a B-Day anyway so why not just have her on my actual B-Day... It seemed like it was going to happen. I called Jason to let him know it was time and he was in a meeting. He was on his way home when all of the sudden the contractions STOPPED!!! I was about sick of this maybe, maybe not game. It wasn't funny at all!!! When he got home we went to Target to walk around, it was our attempt to get the show on the road. NO LUCK!!!

So after a few hours we headed back home to get ready for dinner, my parents were taking us out for my B-Day!!! I was feeling like poo, but I went anyway. So here are the pictures from my B-Day... who knew our baby girl would be in our arms the very next day..

Check out the baby bump!

Our family was about to get a little bigger...
in exactly 27 hours!!!

My mom and Dad... thanks for my B-Day dinner!!!

Strawberry Cake... BRING IT ON ALREADY!!!

The past week I have been in what some would call "pre-labor"... well... it just SUCKS!!! I'm so uncomfortable!!! My back aches all the time, I have cramps and my stomach gets hard as a rock!!! Oh, and I can't even begin to tell you about the pain in my... you know... hopefully soon she'll grace us with her presence!!! I keep telling her there is more room on the outside... LOL!!! Her little butt is ALWAYS in my ribs.

As most of you know Jason and I are building our first house (cross your fingers everything goes as planned) so while it's being built we are living with my parents. Our close date is November 5th. Below are some pictures of our cute little room... YES, it's cozy, but I think it's going to work just fine AND once the house is done it'll all be worth it. More to come on the house later.

This is our bed, my mom usually has a twin... that wasn't going to work. Oh, and she made this into her "Little house on the Prairie" room (she loves old stuff) so that's what the bedding and decor is all about...

The cradle that she found at an estate sale. YIKES!!!

I went to the doctor on Tuesday for my weekly check-up. Everything looks good. I lost a pound!!! So I guess the little princess is done growing, which is fine by me... these last few days have been AWFUL!!! I just feel like my belly can't stretch anymore AND it's so HARD and HEAVY!!! It just hurts!!!

I'm pretty sure I told him that either he could take her or I would... and he said he'd give me his scalpel (didn't go like I thought AND hoped, LOL)!!!

Anyway, I'm 1 and a half centimeters dilated and 75% effaced (sorry if that's TMI). So all those "fake" contractions, which by the way aren't SO fake... they still hurt... maybe not that bad, but I wouldn't call them fake... it sounds like a joke and let me tell you... NOTHING is funny about this!!!

So that's good news. Oh, and the doctor said that he didn't think she was a very big baby... so more good news... I'll just hope for that.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://thepedigos.blogspot.com/2009/08/37-weeks-yikes.html' title='37 weeks... I was feeling a little funny. Once I got out of bed and started moving around I realized that something was "off". The first thing I noticed was that my mouth was numb!!! I ran to the mirror where I started to look at my face, it was hard to talk and I couldn't smile or open my mouth very wide (just like after you've been to the dentist and your numb for a few hours). Then I noticed that my left eyebrow was a bit lower than my right and I couldn't raise it. I started to panic and decided that I needed to call the doctor. After multiple calls they said that I needed to go to Labor and Delivery ASAP. Jason and I jumped in the car and headed to the hospital. After 8 hours of sitting our room we were released and I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. What is Bell's Palsy? Bell's palsy is a form of temporary facial paralysis resulting from damage or trauma to one of the two facial nerves. Each facial nerve directs the muscles on one side of the face, including those that control eye blinking and closing, and facial expressions such as smiling and frowning. When Bell's palsy occurs, the function of the facial nerve is disrupted, causing an interruption in the messages the brain sends to the facial muscles. This interruption results in facial weakness or paralysis. So, with that said there is nothing about Bell's Palsy that is harmful for me or the baby, it's just VERY unlucky and just plain SUCKS!!! I did read that the risk of getting BP does increase if you are pregnant, but it is still very rare. Most cases do make a full recovery within 3 to 4 weeks, but there are some cases that take up to 6 months and a very small amount have the symptoms for the rest of their life. There is no way to tell what my outcome will be, it's all case by case. As you can imagine I have been a complete wreck this week!!! I have just been telling myself that it could be worse and I'll be fine, but it's still very SCARY!!! (you know how much I love to smile and now I can't). The thing that makes me so sad is that if she comes before my face is back to normal, I won't get those "first" family photos that I really want, because I can't smile. It just breaks my heart... so I'm praying for the best. My family, friends and I have been praying that I'll make a full recovery in 3 to 4 weeks. Jason and I would appreciate it if you keep us in your thoughts (I'll post pictures soon so you can see, I know you're curious).

As you can see... my left eyebrow and the left side of my mouth is lower than my right (No, I can't lift my eyebrow like this normally, but hey... I was kinda impressed by this pic... not too bad).

Okay, so this is what it looks like when I try to smile... I just can't seem to find the time to update this blog and I KNOW I'm going to wish I had put a little more effort into it, so here goes with the updates... where did I leave off... 28 weeks...

30 weeks:
I had a doc. appt. it was right after going to Lake of the Ozarks with Jason's family, which turned out to be a VERY BAD IDEA!!! Don't get me wrong I'm glad I went - I got to see Jason's sister Jacquelyn who leaves in Florida and has been very upset that she's missed out on seeing me pregnant. So because of that I'm very glad I went... but really, what the heck was I thinking??? 30 weeks preggo + 6 hour car ride = NO FUN!!! All on top of my allergies, which I didn't even know I had... I was sick for 3 weeks after getting back home!!! I'll post some pics soon, I just need to get some copies.

But, back to the doc. appt. everything checked out fine and he even gave me more drugs to help with my allergies. I just can't say enough how happy I am that I get to have my doctor back!!! Don't get me wrong I loved Dr.Heit, but we're talking about Dr. Christman, the most wonderful doctor ever!!! He's a family friend that delivered my sister's 3 kids, my cousin's twins and my other cousin's two kids... and now me!!!

Plus he's just AMAZING!!! Remember all that talk about how I probably needed to give up the jellybeans and maybe workout a little more??? Well, Dr.Christman told me I looked GREAT and that I was right on track... he said that he doesn't worry too much about weight gain unless it becomes really outrageous... which I'm not!!! LOL. He did measure my belly and at first he said that I was measuring big, but then realized that he had read my chart wrong, he thought I was 22 weeks measuring at 27, but I was quick to say that I was 27 weeks!!! Everything with the baby girl is good, I go back in two weeks for my sugar test and another sono.

As for me and how I'm feeling... some days are better than others. It seems like she doesn't have any room!!! It was supposed to be a surprise, but when my last day turned out to be Friday the ladies decided that they had to tell me... you see, I was trying to talk Jason into taking me to the Royals game that Friday night and he wasn't too excited about it (probably because he was in on the surprise!!!). Jess knew that I wanted to go to the game and in fear of me turning into a crazy pregnant woman who isn't getting her way, she thought it was best I knew (she was probably right, LOL).

A few days earlier, Jess had looked up Jason's number in my phone when I was in the bathroom and Christina called him to let him know what they were up to!!! WHAT A CRAZY PAST FEW DAYS!!!

I'm going to miss KC and all of our amazing friends that we've made, but I'm so excited to start this new chapter of our lives with our beautiful baby girl. It's going to be so nice to have family close. This week I plan on updating the blog A TON!!! I need to put pictures up and give updates... MAN, I hate moving/packing, it doesn't leave time for anything else!!! So, check back this week - I'll have belly pics, sono pics, moving pics... and MUCH MORE!!!

I want to say thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to Jason's mom and aunt for helping us pack (even though Renae tried as hard as she could to make everyone in the house sick!!! LOL). My mom and dad for helping us move from KC to Wichita and letting us stay with them (that's right, I'm pregnant, jobless and living with my parents... LOL... it'll all work out)!!! And Arica for helping me pack and bringing me a drink when I REALLY needed it (don't worry, it was just from Sonic)!!!

More to come this week...

Wedding Weekend(s)

PART TWO:

The very next weekend we went back to Wichita for the wedding. Jason had to work on Saturday morning, but the wedding wasn’t until 6pm so we had plenty of time to make it. We got to my parents house around 3 and Jason decided he had enough time to go work out, so I just relaxed for a bit and then started to get ready. We rushed over to Chris’s house to meet him and Debbie (his girlfriend) so we could all four ride together. We made it just in time for the wedding and it was very nice. They had it at the Scottish Rite so the wedding/reception was all in the same place.

Once the ceremony was over, the boys began to drink (and some even tried to dance, that’s right I said tried). It was so different for me to sit back and just watch as they all had a few. It’s one of those moments where you ask yourself, “is that how we really act, really???” Not that they were being out-of-control (well, maybe a few of the boys were), but what a new perspective. As the night came to an end, everyone decided to go downtown, the bride and groom wanted to go to America’s Pub, and since it was their night, we went to the Pub.

Let me just say this, if I had taken my car separate I would have just headed home. Something about being pregnant and at a bar/club just doesn’t seem right, but I didn’t have my car and I had to be a trooper. Besides I was the DD.

After about 20 minutes in the Pub and no bride or groom we decided to leave and head to the Brickyard and after they had a drink we went to Heroes, they had a drink there and then we left. We tried to eat at IHop, but ended up leaving and going to Burger King instead (drunk cowboys, never a good thing).

So it’s about 3am when Jason and I get back to my parents house, remember he’s been drinking and I haven’t had anything but diet soda and water! Before we left my mom asked if we needed her to pull the trundle bed out for us and I told her not to worry about it (BIG MISTAKE!!!). As Jason starts to pull the trundle out I notice that he’s getting pretty frustrated, not only was it was getting caught on the area rug, but he was trying to lift it and hadn’t even pulled it out all the way. Again, he was pretty frustrated, so I step in and help him get it completely pulled out so he could lift it.

As he finished, I jumped in the shower… yes, it’s like 3:30am now and I’m in the shower (I have to be clean to sleep). As I’m doing my thing, all the sudden I hear this loud BANG!!! Immediately I know what the noise is (I’ve heard it before) and start cracking up, I had tears rolling down my face from laughing so hard!!! Turns out when Jason lifted the bed he must not have locked it and even though I wasn’t there to see it I can picture it to a tee. He apparently was sitting on the bed looking for the remote and it just collapsed!!! Remember, he was already frustrated and ready to go to bed!!! TOO FUNNY!!! I’m still laughing about it as I type this.

We finally made it to bed and had a great weekend with friends and family, but that trundle bed definitely has 1 up on Jason!!! LOL.

Wedding Weekend(s)

PART ONE:

A few weekends ago we traveled back to Wichita so that Jason could attend a friends bachelor party on Saturday night. Since we hadn’t been back since Christmas there were a lot of friends and family to see.

I’m not sure if everyone knows this about me, but I’m not a fan of Taco Bell (I’ll eat it if there is no other choice) or Taco Bueno (no bueno). So as you can imagine Jason and I don’t eat fast food Mexican very often here in KC because those are the ONLY two options we have. All I really wanted while we were back in Wichita was to eat at Taco Shop. So on Saturday I got my hair cut and was planning on meeting a friend for lunch on Saturday (I’d been thinking about it since Wednesday when we decided). As I’m almost to Taco Shop she calls to tell me that its closed (not something you should tell a pregnant woman when she’s been wanting it for days)!!! I was so heartbroken, it was hilarious!!! I told her just to meet me at Taco Tico (what can I say – I needed my fast food Mexican fix and I needed it FAST). It was YUMMY!!!

After Taco Tico my mom and I went to see my sister’s new house (beautiful) and then visited my grandma. On Sunday Jason and I ate lunch at his grandma’s house with his whole family, so while it was a BUSY weekend it was great to see everyone!!!

Kicking or Gas?

I’m about 20 weeks now and I’m finally starting to feel the baby move and kick, either that or I’m having some pretty funky gas bubbles (bubble guts as my cousin would say). It’s the coolest feeling EVER!!! While I’m sure this won’t give it justice, it feels like little gas bubbles in your tummy!!! I’m pretty sure that last Saturday was the first time I finally realized what it was, my sister was staying at our house (long story... New York, crazy women, 31, missed a flight, snowstorm, power outage… LOL) and she let me know that it wasn’t gas and it was probably the baby. So for the past week I’ve been paying more attention and now I know that it’s definitely the baby!!! VERY PRECIOUS!!!

Long Night

Just so we have it posted. Jason and I had a pretty big scare about 4 weeks ago (16 weeks), I started bleeding pretty heavy around 10:30 at night and we went right to the emergency room. They ran every test they could think of just to make sure everything was fine. I have never been more scared in my life, I was a complete mess. Jason was amazing, he was very strong and kept telling me everything was going to be okay. I know he was just as scared, but he held it together for me and for the baby. He’s my hero!!! We didn’t leave until 4:30 in the morning, the doctor said everything looked fine and just to follow up with my personal doctor the next day.

The ONLY great/amazing/wonderful thing about that night was that we got to see the baby!!! AND, it actually looked like a little baby, the spine, the arms and legs, the heart, it was AMAZING!!!

While we didn’t find out (then) if the baby was a boy or a girl, we did find out that the baby is VERY stubborn (like daddy, LOL). It refused to let us get a look and sat Indian style the entire time!!! Too funny!!! When the tech pushed on my belly to try and get it to move, it put its little hand up as if it was saying, “talk to the hand”. Really, how cute is that? We all started laughing!!! I’m so in love already, I can’t wait to meet the little one!!!

Boy or Girl???

Quick update – I still need to blog about our past couple of crazy weekends when we went back to Wichita for a bachelor party and then the wedding, but I’ll work on that this weekend.

More importantly, Jason and I are going to have our sonogram today and I can’t wait!!! Is it a boy or a girl??? I’m so excited I can hardly stand it, why did I decide to go to work today??? Last night I had a long talk with the baby because the last time we had a sonogram (16 weeks, I’ll also blog about that too, GEEZ, I’m never going to get caught up) the baby decided to sit Indian style the entire sonogram!!! The tech even said that he had never seen a baby sit like that for that long!!! So last night I said that it’s the only time that we need you to spread your legs open wide (especially if you’re a little girl). Hopefully this time we have an understanding.

So even though Jason and I are finding out today (YAY!!!) we won’t be telling family until Easter, we really want to do it in person and see everyone’s faces, it’s just not the same over the phone and you can’t blame us, Rita!!! LOL.

Dr. Updates

Since the 8 weeks check-up we’ve made a few visits to Dr. Heit, one around 12 weeks and one around 16. Both were just regular prenatal care appointments, ya know, weight, blood pressure, questions, concerns and my personal favorite, hearing the heart beat!!! Both times the heart beat was around 150.

Now it’s just a game of hurry up and wait. On March 31st we’re scheduled for our sonogram and hopefully (baby willing) we’ll find out if it’s going to be a little girl or a little boy.

Sorry everyone, those visits were pretty boring, not much happened… Oh, I did get a big fat “you should start watching your calories, you’re a bit over where I’d like you to be as far as your weight”. Really??? 3 lbs.!!! I wonder what kind of speech women get if they’re over 10!!! I looked at Jason and said, “Those damn jelly beans!” Dr. Heit started laughing at me, but really, he told me I should work out 5 days a week instead of my usual 3-4 days a week!!! Are you kidding??? I didn’t work out that much when I was in shape – this baby business is HARD WORK!!!

We’ll just see how that goes!!!

Last weekend we went home to Wichita, Jason had a bachelor party to attend. It was all still so new and I was just so excited to back for my 8 week check-up. Jason came with me (he’s so great), first the nurse wanted me to give her a sample. No big deal, right? Well, I go into the restroom and all they have is little plastic cups, no lids, nothing. So I do what I have to and carry it into my room where Jason is waiting. I swear I thought he was going to toss his cookies right there in front of me, he took one look at that cup and pretty much gagged (a few times I might add). I just smiled and sat down on the table (I mean he’s going to be seeing a lot worse in the near future). The nurse came in and did her thing, weight, blood pressure, etc. and said the doctor would be right in.

When Dr. Heit came in he brought the little device that they use to hear the baby’s heart beat, but first he asked how everything was going. I told him about my awful cramps that I have been having, I told him I thought it was just gas (which I knew it was) and I just wanted to know if there was something that I could take, tums were NOT working!!! He basically tells me to suck it up and deal with it (in his nice doctor way) and smiles. WTF? Really? So I must have looked like he just ran over my dog because he said that he’d try to find the heart beat to make me feel better.

But there was nothing, he tried for a bit and couldn’t pick it up (he said that it would be hard this early). So he decided to do a sonogram, just to make sure that everything was okay, with the cramps and all. I’m not going to lie, I started to panic a little inside.

Jason and I went back to the waiting room for about 10 minutes and then the most amazing lady came and took us back to the sonogram room. She was great, she found our little one right away!!! It was so amazing to see, the baby was moving and kicking its little arm and leg nubs. We got to see the heartbeat – it was so fast!!! 160 beats a minute (perfectly normal). This wonderful woman kept telling me how amazing I looked and that I had a great start to my pregnancy and just how amazing I looked (I really loved her, because at this point I was starting to feel like a fatty). And, Jason was pretty excited because she was calling the baby a “he”, Jason said it was a sign (haha, we’ll see).

To the right is our baby’s first picture. Can’t wait until the next sonogram (then we’ll really see if it’s a boy or a girl). Oh yeah… two weeks later we went in so we could hear the heartbeat, it was AWESOME!!! 160 beats a minute. I can’t even begin to put into words how wonderful it is to hear, VERY AMAZING!!!

Merry Christmas!!!

After our first doctors visit Jason and I talked and decided that we would only tell family (until we were further along) about the pregnancy. Even though it was a BIG surprise, how perfect would it be to surprise our family for Christmas. Especially since Jason’s mom has wanted grandchildren even before Jason and I got married (just ask my mom). Too perfect!!! Jason came up with a great way to tell them, I was very impressed.

Here’s what we did, I told my mom and dad that we got a frame and needed a picture of them to go in it. AND, of course my mom didn’t want to and started asking questions, then told me just to use a photo that she already had (GEEZ mom, just take the freakin picture). Finally I talked her into it. They get into their cute little pose and by this time I’m starting to get a bit scared, who knows how they’ll react, my heart is beating so fast I’m not sure how I was able to hold the camera long enough to get a picture!!! I said, “One, two, three say cheese” and took the picture; I looked down and said, “let’s take another one, not the best” (nothing was wrong with that picture). So this time I said, “one, two, three say Jessica’s pregnant” and this is what we got!!!

I’m pretty sure my dad said, “doubt it” and my mom kept saying, “Is this April Fools Day”, finally after a few minutes they realized we were dead serious and this was no joke. Too funny!!! You see, I’m the baby and to them I think I will always be a little girl, so this was a bit of a shocker. But, they are very excited for us and I can’t wait to see them hold our little one.

That night, Jason and I went to church, then back to his parents house for family game night, which we do every year. Jason told his mom, dad and two sisters that we needed a family picture for a frame we got (by the way, did I tell you there is no frame). So I’m holding the camera and Jason says, “One, two, three say cheese”. Again, we took another, this time Jason says, “One, two, three say Jessica’s pregnant” AND what do they all do, THEY SAY IT!!! Jason and I were so confused… he said, “no really, she’s pregnant, and they all just kinda shook their heads and smiled for the camera!!! What are we supposed to do in a situation like this??? Jim (Jason’s dad) got tired of standing there, sat down and starting watching T.V. (WOW, this is even better then I remember)!!! Finally after a few seconds I said, “No I’m really pregnant”. AND then it hit, here’s what happened next!!!

As you can see, they were very surprised, Rita (Jason’s mom) said that this was the best Christmas present ever!!!

I’m just so thankful that Jason thought of this, now we have these photos to cherish for the rest of our lives and share with our baby. Next up is the 8 weeks check-up...

Dr. Heit

By this time its around 10:30 and I had just taken the second test. I didn’t want to call the doctor I had been seeing, he’s just weird (my sister knows that story… too graphic). So I called my friend Arica, I started to tell her the story and ask if I could have the name of her doctor (she loved him!). She told me that when I call I need to say that I haven’t been feeling good and that I’m miserable (basically lie… she’s really great). Up to this point I hadn’t been feeling too bad, just tired and achy. She said that was the only way I’d get in before I hit the 8-week mark.

So the next day I went to work and called the doctors office. I told the lady that answered the phone I thought I was pregnant (that’s right, I said “I thought”, who cares about the two test that screamed at me the night before). She asked if I had missed my period and I said yes, she asked if I took a home pregnancy test and I said yes, then she asked when was the first day of my last period (WOW, I was on the pill and I still had trouble with this one). She guessed that I was about 4 weeks and told me that they don’t see anyone until around 8 weeks and that she could schedule me in at that time.

So what do I do? I LIE!!! (thanks Arica) I tell her that I haven’t been feeling good and that I’m miserable. She talked to the nurse and they decided that I should come in on Friday (it’s Wednesday). Jason and I wanted to get in that week because we were going home for Christmas and if we were for sure pregnant (again, two tests) then we were going to surprise our family.

Friday finally gets here. Jason and I get to the doctors office and there was ton of paper work to fill out. As I’m trying to answer these very personal questions, Jason is making silly, inappropriate comments in my ear AND I can’t help but laugh. I’m pretty sure there were a few women in that waiting room judging us. But really, we were so nervous and scared (at least I was) that it was good to giggle out loud.
Its our turn and we go back to the room where the nurse takes my weight (No, I will not be sharing) and figures out the Due Date based on the first day of my last period (I still don’t understand how they do this). AUGUST 25, 2009.

Dr. Heit comes in and introduces himself and starts to talk to us about the the do’s and don’ts and what to expect, this is where he tells me that its ok if I can’t keep any food down in the coming weeks, just keep drinking fluids, WAIT, WHAT?!? I was feeling fine at this point, but I have say, I started getting a bit nervous.

After the brief talk, Dr. Heit steps out so I can change. Remember Jason’s still in the room (first time in this type of situation). As I change Jason starts to play with the height chart, go figure! I sit on the table and as Dr. Heit knocks, Jason runs back to his chair next to me and says, “I wasn’t playing with that”. Dr. Heit just smiles (like he hasn’t seen that before, boys!!!)

Now this is where it gets funny. As Dr. Heit does his thing, checking me out (you know what I mean) he starts up a conversation with Jason about sports!!! Poor Jason is answering him and trying to act as normal as possible, but keeps his eyes on the floor the entire time. Dr. Heit gets up and walks over and then starts the breast exam, still talking to Jason about sports AND Jason is still looking at the floor (not that I wanted him to get a good look, but its just so funny to me). I know Dr. Heit was just trying to make Jason feel somewhat comfortable in that situation, but I don’t think Jason knew what he was in for. I think now he might have a new appreciation for what us women go through every year!!!

We're Having a Baby!

I’ve decided (with the help a few friends, Arica) that I’m starting a blog, a diary if you will, about our pregnancy. I want to keep track of everything, the good, the bad and the ugly, so this seemed perfect, PLUS it’s a way our family and friends can stay up-to-date and involved every step of the way.

DISCLAIMER: I want to apologize up front, something tells me this could get graphic at times and will probably be full of typos! Enjoy!

As most of you know, Jason and I are about to start a new adventure, WE’RE HAVING A BABY! And, as most of you know, this was a BIG surprise! But, for those of you that don’t know... the story goes:

It was a week after Thanksgiving and Jason was really sick (I think he got it from his sister when we were in Wichita) and I just knew I was going to get it x10! He gets a cough and I’m out for an entire week and feel like death would be a blessing. I just knew it was coming and it was going to be awful. Fast forward a week (the week “aunt flow” was coming to visit) I started to feel like I was getting ready to get sick, you know, tired and achy all over, PLUS I was having cramps to boot! YUCK!

It was Tuesday and nothing happened, Wednesday rolls around and still nothing. I decided to stop off at Target and get a few things, while I was there I thought I’d get a test (I’m NEVER late) just to assure myself that everything was fine, I hadn’t even thought about the alternative (like truly thought about it). When I got home, I made dinner, watched TV and talked to Jason about random things, that’s right, I didn’t take the test right away (clearly I wasn’t worried at all). So its about 9:30 and I tell Jason that I’m going to take and shower and “go to the bathroom” (you know what I’m talking about) not that I was, I just didn’t want him walking in and make a BIG deal about buying a test. It was the only way I could ensure that he wouldn’t come in. So I take the test, put it in the cabinet and take my shower (I didn’t even wait for the results).

I got out of the shower and grabbed the test, by the way I’m still in the towel. I looked down and there it was “PREGNANT”. There was no “maybe there’s two lines”, you see I bought the digital test and there was no “NOT” in front of that “PREGNANT”. I started to panic and I opened the door and looked at Jason in the living room (he was playing Play Station). He immediately said, “what’s wrong, are you okay?” (he now tells me I was white as a ghost). I went and sat on the couch and told him he needed to go into the bathroom. He asked why and I just said, “Just go in there”. He asked, “What did I do?”. (looking back that comment is pretty funny, what a true man). At this point my heart is beating so fast I think it might pop out of my chest, he yells, “what’s this” and I yell, “I don’t know”. How romantic, right! (I’m trying very hard not to laugh out loud about this as I’m typing it)

He comes into the living picks me up, hugs me and asked what’s wrong again (by the way, still in a towel) I say, “I just don’t want you to be mad.”

Of course he wasn’t mad, he told me I had to take another one, about an hour later, after multiple cups of water and Jason yelling at me to hurry up, I was able to take the second test AND sure enough, it practically screamed at me, it didn’t take the full 3 minutes to say “PREGNANT”.

So now what?!?

The Blog Is On...

Because Arica said I had to.
